Mercury Disposal & Dental Waste

Collecting and Storing Regulated Wastes

Dental Clinics generate a variety of dental wastes that require special mercury disposal handling procedures to protect personnel and the environment.  State Departments of Environmental Protection are in the midst of promulgating regulation requiring capture and proper management of various waste streams including mercury amalgam and lead foils.

Amalgon™ has been designed to manage solid hazardous waste/ regulated recyclable materials in a clean, space saving and compliant manner.

Mercury Amalgam/Lead Foil

Amalgam wastes requiring collection and recycle include:

§          Non-Contact Mercury Amalgam (excess amalgam, empty amalgam capsules)

§          Contact Mercury Amalgam (side chair traps, amalgam sludge, vacuum pump filters)

§          Amalgam Separation Filters (down stream mercury amalgam separators)

§          Lead Foils (Dental X-ray film)

All amalgam and lead foil wastes, to be recycled, must be collected as a DEP-defined “Regulated Recyclable Material(s)”. To do this, simply mount Amalgon collection system in each room for a clean solution for your waste management needs.  It automatically accumulates waste in containers to be collected with other waste.
