Our reading room design and furniture solutions are based on principles that encompass the entirety of the environment such issues as lighting, adjustability of workstations, noise control, and air quality comprise the key elements to consider in reading room design.
1. Workspace Requirements: Size, type, and number of workstations required are all critical elements in the design of your reading room. The monitor configuration and other necessary equipment that is to be hosted will help guide this decision.
2. Film-less or Hybrid: Film alternators or view boxes are often required in your PACS reading room for reading outside images. How will these fit into the new design?
3. Acoustics: Careful attention must be paid to acoustics depending on the number of radiologists that will be working in the reading room at any given time. If applicable, the use of a voice recognition system should be considered.
4. Workflow: Traffic management is a crucial part of the design. The room should permit the process to flow naturally and directly while avoiding distractions of sound, light, and motion.
5. Lighting: Appropriate ambient and traffic area light must be provided without causing glare.
