Innovative Design Features

Film-Less Or Hybrid Solutions
Although some institutions may be more aggressive in upgrading from film-based reading to a film-less environment, it is likely that this transition will take place over a period of time, and not overnight. Therefore, cost-effective reading rooms should be designed for continual modification. Accommodating changes in equipment without the need for disruptive construction is essential in the hybrid reading room. When conceived as a continuously evolving space, Evolve Technologies can design reading rooms flexible enough to change along with the implementation of increasing digital image management.  And where soft-copy reading takes place exclusively, the environment will be able to accommodate future digital upgrades without necessitating structural changes to the reading room.

Workflow Efficiency
Evolve designs reading room environments uniquely for the way in which radiologist prefer to work. Spaces that accommodate various work styles are fundamental to insure workflow efficiency. Evolve understands at times it may be necessary for the Radiologist to read individually in a quiet customized space, in small groups or in a larger group where collaboration can take place comfortably. Creating ‘zones of comfort’ enables the radiologist to be shielded from glare, outside noise and read within a cloistered personalize sanctuary. When needed, the radiologist can be a step away from an environment that accommodates group discussions. Evolve often times works with an institutions well-defined workflow to enhance productivity by incorporating digital technologies that enable a more efficient movement of information. Together, these elements insure higher operational workflow, enhance throughput and help institutions deal with the rising influx of imaging.

Acoustics and Lighting
Four specific reading room design elements must be examined within each Radiologist's personalized environment: physical space demands, ergonomic furniture, lighting, and acoustics.

Lighting control is the single most important design effect since it directly impacts the radiologist’s performance and endurance. Evolve can anticipate the results of both ambient and task lighting when designing the reading room. Dimmable ambient light can provide low levels of evenly distributed illumination necessary to reduce glare and read soft-copy images. Supplemental task lighting enables the Radiologist to perform manual tasks such as writing, and reading alternative materials.

Acoustic control is another necessary component in the well-designed reading room. Complete auditory control is possible within each Radiologist personalized sanctuary to eliminate external distractions and insure HIPPA compliance during consultations. For obvious reasons, this component becomes essential as voice recognition systems are employed. Through the tactical application of sound absorbing floors, walls and ceilings Evolve can create an environment in which complete acoustic control is achieved.
